If you said yes to any of the above symptoms then you may be suffering from hormone imbalance. We offer bio-identical hormone replacement therapy here at Balanced Health & Hormones.

What is bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and what does it involve? We see an increase in disease and a decrease in our health as we age. A big part of why we age is hormone loss. We hit our hormonal prime in or around our mid 20′s, on average, from there it is a steady decline. Bio-identical hormones identically match the molecular structure of the hormones that your body makes. They are derived from natural plant sources and are then compounded by a compounding pharmacy. Natural hormones do not carry the same risks as synthetic hormones. We check your hormone levels through blood, urine and saliva testing. We then sit down with you and analyze all of your levels and prescribe whatever hormones you may be deficient in. We also will recommend supplemental replacement to optimize all of your vitamins, hormones and minerals. Your hormones are tailored to your individual needs and are not a one size fits all dosing. The beauty of compounding is the pharmacist can match your exact needs through individualized dosing. We then monitor your hormone levels closely to make sure you are always balanced and within an optimal range.

We treat adults of all ages. Whatever it is, we can offer relief from most hormonal imbalances. Dr. Gayle Carter specializes in hormone replacement. Give our office a call to see if hormone replacement with bio-identical hormones is right for you.

VNUS Closures®

VNUS Closure® is a treatment for varicose veins that many patients in St. George, UT undergo here. We perform every procedure with utmost quality and care.

What is VNUS Closure®? This system is already becoming a popular alternative for the correction of varicose veins. Traditionally, this medical condition is addressed through the stripping of the vein. VNUS Closure® is performed by sealing the vein shut instead of stripping it. Many of our patients are pleased with the idea of this minimally invasive procedure as an alternative solution to varicose vein problems.

Who are good candidates for VNUS Closure®? Not everyone with varicose veins is a good candidate for VNUS Closure®. Most phlebologists use this method to close the great saphenous veins. Although the use of this method has somewhat been extended for the treatment of several other vein conditions and some perforator veins, only a qualified medical professional can tell if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

What happens during a VNUS Closure® Procedure? On the day of your appointment, creating an incision in the groin would not be necessary, unlike in a vein stripping process. Instead, the affecting vein remains in its place and will be closed with the use of a special catheter that will be inserted to the vein through a small puncture. The procedure eliminates the bruising and pain that often comes with the vein stripping process. The operation may be done on an outpatient department while the patient is under local or regional anesthesia. The whole VNUS procedure usually takes three to five minutes, although the patient can spend around 30 minutes inside the clinic for any instructions before and after treatment.

What can I expect after my VNUS Closure® treatment? You may be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment. We may also advise you to maintain a regular walking regimen during the first few weeks after your treatment. It is also advisable to avoid performing any strenuous activities or standing in prolonged periods. Common side effects, such as minimal scarring or bruising, usually dissipate in about one to two weeks following the procedure.

Gynecology

Dr. Gayle M. Carter provides in office Gynecology care.

What does a Gynecologist do? Gynecologists provide reproductive and sexual health services that include pelvic exams, Pap tests, cancer screenings, and testing and treatment for vaginal infections.

They diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders such as endometriosis, infertility, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain. They may also care for people with ovarian, cervical, and other reproductive cancers.

Reasons to see a Gynecologist.  It’s important to have regular visits with your gynecologist to maintain your reproductive health. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, these visits should start between the ages of 13 and 15.

Depending on your health history and how old you are, your gynecologist may use this visit to screen for problems like cervical or breast cancer. The well visit is also your chance to ask the gynecologist about reproductive health concerns like birth control.

You have discomfort in your pelvic region. Pain in the lower belly, also known as the pelvic region, may be a sign of a problem with the reproductive organs. Common causes of pelvic pain include menstrual cramps, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and ectopic pregnancy.

You have concerns about your period or getting pregnant. You can make an appointment if you have changes in your monthly period, including unusual pain or bleeding. If you are in your 40s or 50s, your gynecologist can help you to figure out if you might be going through menopause.

Gynecologists can also help you with questions about pregnancy, including how to avoid getting pregnant and what to do if you think you might be pregnant.

You have a discharge you’re concerned about. If you’re having an unusual discharge or odor, a gynecologist can diagnose the cause and offer treatment.

What to expect at the Gynecologist. Your gynecologists will exam your reproductive system, both internally and externally. They’ll examine your breasts and check for any lumps or cysts. They’ll then examine your vulva, which is located outside of the vagina.

The next step is usually an internal pelvic exam. The doctor will use a special instrument called a speculum to see inside the vagina and look at the cervix.

To see inside the body, a gynecologist uses a tool known as a speculum, which the doctor inserts into the vagina. It helps to widen the vagina and help the doctor to see the cervix, located between the vagina and the uterus.

During the pelvic exam, the gynecologist may do a procedure known called a Pap smear. It lets the doctor collect a sample of cells from the cervix to check for infection.

Fraxis Vaginal Laser

The Fraxis Laser can be used for vaginal rejuvenation, a process that uses your body’s healing function to restore lost tightness and tone in your vaginal walls.

A well designed hand-piece is inserted to allow the laser energy to penetrate directly into your vaginal walls.

This therapy creates a gentle heat that prompts your body to produce new collagen cells. For many women, treatments improve sensations during sex and restore normal vaginal moisture levels.

It’s now possible to reverse some of the changes brought on by pregnancy, childbirth, and the aging process.

To explore this laser therapy, schedule an appointment online or call today. These treatments require no preparation other than a topical anesthetic, and no significant downtime.
